INDEPENDENT BY DESIGN

Publishing is a journey.
Here is your field guide.

PublishAPI.com connects the ideas behind modern publishing: content, code, AI, editorial judgment, and the destinations where a story finds its readers.

A place to understand the possibilities

A publishing question often crosses several disciplines. A developer may need to understand an editor’s approval process. A creator may need to compare a CMS with a static website. A team exploring AI may need to separate a useful draft from a trustworthy release. This field guide gives those conversations a shared vocabulary.

The topic directory organizes 54 routes into six families. Publish API Lab adds ten longer guides with practical walkthroughs, tradeoffs, and one directly relevant editorial source in each article. Read a collection from the beginning, or enter through the specific platform, format, or problem that brought you here.

Useful patterns. Clear boundaries.

PublishAPI.com is an independent editorial project. It is not an API provider, hosting company, domain marketplace, encryption product, or newsletter delivery service. Examples describe patterns to evaluate in your own environment; they do not create accounts, issue credentials, or carry out a publication.

Names such as WordPress, Hugo, Ghost, Substack, ChatGPT, Claude, Anthropic, and Cursor identify topics people are exploring. They are not partnerships, endorsements, or integrations supplied by this website. Platform capabilities and access requirements should be checked with the relevant provider before implementation.

WHAT GUIDES THE GUIDE

Clarity over shortcuts.

01 / SOURCE FIRST

Keep the evidence close.

Separate supported facts from proposed architecture. Give readers enough context to understand why a recommendation belongs in a workflow and where its assumptions need checking.

02 / HUMAN OWNERSHIP

Approval means something.

A draft, an accepted request, and a public release are different events. Keep the person responsible for editorial judgment visible in the way the system is described.

03 / OPERATIONAL HONESTY

Name the boundaries.

Do not replace missing implementation details with a confident promise. Discuss failure, recovery, and corrections alongside the straightforward path.
